CONSERVING FUTURE WATER SUPPLY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA
OUR TEAM
- We are enjoying an incredibly exciting phase in the development of our products and are now seeking to grow the our team at the Loughborough HQ. This is a hugely innovative product creating a positive impact for the Environment, creating significant financial and time savings and meeting the required standards to be used by leading water infrastructure providers.
- The Aqualiner process was developed in conjunction with Severn Trent, Anglian, Yorkshire and Wessex Water. In 2021 we completed an initial live commercial installation with Severn Trent Water. The current phase is to modify our equipment ready to be repetitively used by utility contractors. The UK alone has 405,000km of water pipes. It is estimated that 120,000km are in need of replacement.
WHAT WE DO
- The only fully structural pipe renewal lining process with UK drinking water approval
- The self-contained Aqualiner equipment lines a water or sewerage pipe with a thin but extremely robust thermoplastic polymer composite
- The process involves inserting an engineered liner, which is an intricate blend of glass fibre and polypropylene filaments, into the pipe to be lined. A heating pig is then passed through the woven sock which heats the material, using hot air, to above the melt temperature of the polypropylene material (i.e. above 180°C). The molten mixture of glass fibres and polypropylene is then consolidated against the pipe wall by a pressurised silicone rubber inversion hose
THE BENEFITS
FINANCIAL
Patented, installed technology that cuts water pipe replacement cost by up to 50% with an installation rate up to 10 times faster than open cut pipe replacement.
OPERATIONAL
The process avoids the disruption of the open cut trenching thereby minimising the risk to the existing services, customers and highway users. This is a substantial increase compared to the speed of traditional replacement.
TIME
Same day return to service – minimise disruption to customers and others affected by the work. Target capability to renew 150+ metres per installation.
ENVIRONMENTAL
Environmentally friendly materials/low carbon footprint, avoidance of spoil disposal to landfill and use of reinstated aggregates.
TECHNICAL
Thin-walled to maintain and potentially enhance the pipe’s hydraulic capacity. Effectively line through bends. Fully structural liner with the same standalone structural integrity as the existing pipe material.
APPROVED PRODUCT
UK (DWI Reg.31) and North America (NSF 61) Drinking Water Contact Approval. WRc PT/292/1109 approval for use in Sewers.
